The thermal sports car has not yet said its last word

NEW – With this exclusive spider, produced in only 250 numbered copies, the star company opens the Mythos series.
Mercedes is no stranger to the production of exclusive sports cars: the last period was marked by McLaren CPRspecial versions of the AMG-GT and the AMG-One supercar – but this is the first time that the star firm has offered a speedster without a roof or windshield. Unveiled as a concept at the last Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco, this car opens a new family of models called Mythos.
Its name “PureSpeed” leaves no doubt about its purpose. This model, based on the AMG-GT with an aluminum chassis, was designed and developed exclusively to test hair in the wind sensations. His register is pure pleasure. The manufacturer claims to have paid special attention to the engine sound.
High level of performance
Its architecture reminds us of the Renault Spider sold in the 1990s and the recent Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2. Older fans and fans of the Stuttgart brand will also see a tribute to the 300 SLR’s winning barquet at the 1955 Mille Miglia, featuring Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson.
With this car, Mercedes is sending a strong signal: customers are not giving up sports cars with internal combustion engines. Limited to just 250 numbered units, this boat is powered by an AMG 4-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 585 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. This unit is combined with a 9-speed AMG Speedshift transmission. As for power and torque, it is sent to all four wheels via fully variable 4Matic all-wheel drive. Performance is at a high level: 100 km/h is reached in 3.5 seconds, and this spider is capable of reaching speeds of 315 km/h, always with a gust of wind blowing.
As a nod to Formula 1, the Halo system runs throughout the passenger compartment. It protects the heads of passengers in the event of an accident or rollover. This protective device is securely attached to the car body. Mercedes engineers have stepped up their focus. Like the Renault Spider, the PureSpeed Spider comes with two helmets in the car’s colors and is equipped with an intercom system.
